Belvoir Castle is one of England’s most magnificent Regency houses and has been the home to the Duke of Rutland’s family since 1067. Did you know it doubles as Windsor in Netflix’s The Crown?

We have recently started working with the historic attraction, delivering a tailored programme to support the Castle and garden visitor opening; the Castle as a wedding venue; corporate events and it’s new multi-million pound Engine Yard retail development.

To kick start the PR campaign, we organised a press call to launch its biggest season in a decade. Our media contacts were delighted to be invited along. Many had never visited the Leicestershire estate before and were blown away with its beauty, with the Castle’s rising turrets and towers like an illustration in a romantic fairytale.

Some could say we even organised the weather. The unusual February heat wave and gorgeous blue skies created the perfect setting for outdoor filming, photographs and interviews with the Duchess of Rutland and Knights of Nottingham.

The media was also introduced to upstairs and downstairs characters. Belvoir has reintroduced the historical characters from the Castle’s extraordinary past as part of the new season. Visitors might meet the fifth Duchess, Elizabeth Manners, the original inspiration behind the Castle you see today, discover life as the butler saw it, or bump into a handmaid going about her daily duties.

Results:

We secured coverage across print, digital, radio and TV. Highlights include The Times, The Guardian, Nottingham Post and Yorkshire Post, as well as superb packages on BBC Radio Leicester, Notts TV and ITV Central.

Belvoir Castle was also overwhelmed with the positive impact of our PR launch. They reported that visitor numbers had nearly tripled in the first weekend in comparison to the same time last year.
