Have you ever dreamt of running away with the circus? Or simply wondered what life is like for the jugglers, clowns and acrobats?
A new exhibition at The Harley Gallery by acclaimed photographer Peter Lavery captures what goes on behind the scenes at the Big Top.
Peter Lavery has spent the last 50 years following and photographing circuses the length and breadth of Britain and Ireland. His new exhibition at Welbeck, ‘Circus Work’, is the first to document this five-decade-long project.
*Ding* – light bulb moment.
We knew this never seen before exhibition would appeal to the media. Not only is Peter’s photography stunning, the exhibition also coincides with the 250th anniversary of the circus. So several weeks before it was due to open to the public, we began pitching to national picture desks and lining up previews.
