Cleaning up for E.ON

Environmental upgrade at Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station

Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station is a landmark for anyone leaving the M1 at Junction 24 and heading towards Nottingham. The site is a coal-fired power station. We worked with E.ON’s on-site team to develop a communications strategy and public engagement campaign to educate about the £0.5billion investment in fitting Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) to clean gas emissions by removing NOx. The project involved the installation of four SCR units built at a cost of around £550m to play an important role in ensuring UK security of supply.

Communications targeted the local community, interacting with local residents, supporting charities and assisting with E.ON initiatives in schools in the local community. We also supported E.ON’s Corporate Press Office in Coventry providing support in the area as and when necessary, as well as identifying channels of engagement with local and national politicians for E.ON’s Public Affairs team in London.
