Live Music Company DHP Family Celebrates Golden Year

Multiple industry awards, record-breaking shows, a bespoke pop up venue created for 30,000 fans and sold out festivals mark this as a golden year for live music company DHP Family.

DHP Family scooped both of the national promoter titles winning the Music Week Live Music Promoter title in May followed up by the Live Music Business Promoter of the Year title in October.

The company – which operates from its home city Nottingham along with offices in London, Manchester and Bristol – has had a huge year as a promoter with Ed Sheeran’s shows to conclude the ÷ tour and a growing number of larger outdoor shows. The promoter even custom-built a venue to house 30,000 Massive Attack fans to deliver the band’s largest ever hometown show.

The awards gold rush continued with the flagship venue Rock City winning the Live Music Business Best Major Club on the eve of its 40th anniversary year in 2020.

Capping off the awards season, DHP was also named ‘Best Late-Night Company’ at the national UK Hospitality Awards voted for by the industry as the most exciting and innovative business and leading late night operator.

From one of its smallest venues – the Bodega, Nottingham – celebrating 20 years of breaking bands with an anniversary week in November – to its flagship venue Rock City breaking all its attendance records for its club nights throughout October, DHP has proved it has the right ingredients to deliver long-term sustainable live music venues.

Thekla, the multi-award-winning live music boat venue and club in Bristol’s floating harbour, also returned from a spell in dry dock in September following a £1million investment by DHP Family to replace the hull and secure its future for the next 50 years.

The festival portfolio saw Dot To Dot, DHP Family’s award winning multi-venue metropolitan festival in Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham, having its biggest year to date. A previous winner of the Best Festival for Emerging Talent, the line up showcases the best new acts from around the world.

Nottingham’s massive summer all-dayer Splendour was the fastest-selling in its 11-year history cementing its position as one of the biggest and best festivals in the region.

Beat The Streets, the fundraising music festival in support of the homeless, took place in January attracting thousands of people to watch sets from 50 plus acts across 8 stages. Now an annual event, it has raised almost £200,000 for the local charity Framework which this year has gone to allow a winter shelter set up for rough sleepers to operate all year round.
