If you want to build a sense of community you need to talk to local people and get them onboard. That’s exactly what we did as part of our community engagement strategy for Safer Stronger Community Fund (SSCF).
SSCF involved many stakeholders, including Nottingham City Council and One Nottingham and focused on improving lives in some of the city’s most deprived neighbourhoods. These included St Ann’s and Sneinton, Crabtree Farm and Coventry Road Estate, Broxtowe and Bell’s Lane and Bestwood. The whole ethos of the project was about getting communities involved in action to make their neighbourhoods better places.
We coordinated community meetings and worked with local people to develop the ‘CommUnity’ brand and associated communications. This included a community newsletter with editorial contributions written by local people for locl people.
