Why we recorded the Archbishop’s tour
When the Archbishop of Canterbury visited Derbyshire we joined him on his tour of the region, managing the interest from TV, radio, online, local, regional, national and ecclesiastical media.
A big part of the story was capturing the Archbishop in unusual circumstances, such as the open air baptisms he conducted in Glossop’s market square. Whilst the mainstream media sent along their own photographers, we recorded the Archbishop on tour for use across social media channels and for supply to media unable to attend but keen to cover the story.
The resulting photo record captures the diverse nature of his visit, from meeting nursery school children to a private audience at a local nunnery, as well as presenting at a forum on modern day slavery. These ‘fly on the wall’ images provided huge engagement on social media and reflected a more informal side to the visit.
